About the Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend
The Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is a high profile event which will connect consumers with farmers, food producers, processors and nature.
With interest in food production, the environment and the wider supply chain at an all time high, there has never been a better time to get out and discover the real story of local food. The Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is an educational, engaging and fun opportunity to learn more about agriculture and food production, and will give a valuable insight into the story behind the food on your plate. It will offer you an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the issues facing farmers and food producers today.
Each farm event is unique and will be organised primarily by the host farmer. As visitors to the farm, you will have a VIP pass to see the exact processes involved and the care and dedication that goes into food production while hopefully gaining an understanding of how important local farming is for everyone’s future. You will have the opportunity to meet the farmer and, to complete the experience, you may even be able to taste and buy the food, highlighting the importance of supporting your community by buying local.
The Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is being delivered by Ulster Farmers’ Union and is sponsored by Bank of Ireland and supported by The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Regional Food Programme; Business in the Community NI, on behalf of The Prince’s Countryside Fund; NFU Mutual and Asda. The weekend would also not be possible without the help and resources of Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster, CAFRE, the Northern Ireland Food and Drink Association and Food NI.
